Alsace Harvest

On Wednesday, September 19th, after two weeks of "break" further to the Crémant, we harvest again. Fermentation started and nice smells of fermentation have already pervaded the cellar. Grape harvests for the Crémant were particularly early. We finally don’t notice such earliness for Alsace. It was necessary to wait because ripeness was not that far as one could imagine! The sanitary state is still particularly healthy due to the good climatic conditions of the first half of September: nice weather during the day and cool nights.

We harvest Pinot Blanc and Auxerrois and tomorrow, Pinot Noir, which shows a very nice ripeness.  According to maturity analysis, vintage 2007 can be compared with 2005. 2005 wines have a nice aging potential. 2007 will probably be even better.
