• The Library is open to Belgian and european PhD students, aged under 30, who have been recommended by the University professors supervising their work.
 

 Consultation of documents is by appointment only, subject to 10 days notice, and has to take place on the Foundation premises.  The person responsible for the Library shall provide the duly accredited requester with a reader's card.


The Library contains 5.000 items (ca), in addition to 7.000 copies from 90 periodicals, for which the names are listed on the relevant Web site.
 

An analytical and an alphabetical (by author's name) catalogue are available at the Foundation premises.

 

Extracts of the "Library Catalogue" are available on the Foundation Web Site.

Pictures may be consulted, by appointment only, on the Foundation premises. Some of them may be reproduced, at requestor's expenses, and used subject to the Copyright restrictions.

 

Presently, consulting and studying the Collections *** gathered by the Foundation will be allowed when in connection with academic work at doctoral level, and with the recommendation to the Foundation of the academic tutor.

Important Collections of Prehistory relate to Northern Africa, West Africa, Central Africa and South East Asia.

Collections of Ceramics relate especially to the Iron Age in West Africa.


Object of the "Late Stone Age", discovered in 1998 during the "Archaelogical survey of the Lao valley of the Mekong river", mission directed by Paul Raymaekers. The function of such an object remains unknown (Lao National Museum, Vientiane).

***  A century after the death of the founder of the Foundation, the entire library, the Photographic library and all the Collections will be remitted to several specific Institutions (Museums, Universities, ...) in the countries from where the books, objects and artefacts originated.

All the pieces of the Collections have been officially authorized for export from their countries of origin and these authorizations are well documented.
